Heavy-duty X-Tip Chain (Cast iron and clay)

The X-Tip chains are our most aggressive chains. They are made for grinding up tree roots or other solid obstructions by rasping away at them at more than 2000RPM. This heavy-duty version of the chain is especially effective as it is made from 4mm thick chain, so the extra weight makes short work of roots, tuberculation or scale.

The X shaped teeth are made from a special alloy which we fuse to the cutting edge of the chain assembly. This shape acts like a set of blades which scour the inner pipe wall of the pipe.

They are meant to be used in cast iron or vitrified clay pipes with a diameter ranging from 75 mm (3") to 200 mm (8"). We do not recommend using these chains in PVC pipes because they will damage the pipe wall within a short period of time. Please see our demonstration on our Youtube channel.

This model has no crown drill head, so it is more suitable for descaling than blockage removal, but the absence of a drill head allows the chain to handle multiple bends without biting into wall of the pipe as it navigates through a bend.

The chain uses centrifugal forces to center the tool in the pipe, so you get the benefit of ensuring that the entire inner surface of the pipe is cleaned.

All of these models come with 3 separate stainless steel chains with varying lengths. The chains are adjustable so you can clean a smaller pipe size if you spread the hubs further apart on the shaft.

They are made to mount to a 5/16" (8 mm), 3/8" (10 mm) or 1/2" (12 mm) diameter flexible shafts with set screws.

This chain would be perfect to use with Picote Maxi Miller, Super Midi, Midi Cleaner and Ridgid K9-306 FlexShaft® Machine because they use 10mm and 12mm shafts.
